ISCET Non-members using the continuing education model will be granted recertification upon successful completion and registration of their continuing education form with the ISCET office. The registration fee(s) due at the time of form submission is/are as follows:

First Certification Registration/Renewal Fee $50

Additional Certification Registration(s) $10 each

There will be a maximum registration fee equal to the annual cost of ISCET membership to renew all ISCET and NESDA certifications issued to any one individual as this is equivalent to ISCET annual member dues. At this time, the ISCET membership fee is $70 per year or $125 for two years. There is also a Lifetime Membership option for $600.

Non-Journeyman renewal and registration requirements:

There will be a 60-day grace period for renewal for all Non-Journeyman technical certifications. Failure to renew or maintain these certification(s) will require re-testing after the expiration of the grace period with NO exceptions.

The Associate CET and Associate CET+ will expire based upon the renewal date of the certification which is 4 years from the original certification date or the last renewal date.

Associate CET’s may renew their certification by:

  1. passing an ISCET Journeyman Test within the past 24 months, or
  2. completing 20 clock hours of electronics continuing education within the 24 months prior to the expiration date of the Associate CET. As this has always been the policy for Associate CET and Associate CET+ certifications, there will be no “Legacy” class of this certification as indicated above.

NASTeC Basic Certified Appliance Technician (CAT) certification holders will be required to renew their certification every 2 years. Individuals certified prior to 9/1/2013 must renew their certification by 8/31/2015 or the certification will be moved to “Legacy” status.

NASTeC Basic Certified Appliance Technicians can renew their certification by

  1. passing a NASTeC Journeyman level Certified Appliance Technician examination within the past 24 months or
  2. completing 20 clock hours of appliance continuing education within the 24 months prior to the expiration of their certification.

Non-journeyman CCT certification holders will also be required to renew their certification every 2 years. Individuals certified prior to 9/1/2013 must renew their certification by 8/31/2015 or the certification will be moved to “Legacy” status.

Requirements for renewal are:

  1. passing a higher-level certification on this track
  2. passing a journeyman level certification or
  3. completing 20 clock hours of continuing education within the 24 month prior to the expiration of their certification.

As there is a cross-over of some skills for all non-journeyman certifications above, ISCET will allow continuing education credits in electronics or electricity as credit towards renewing all certifications. Individuals that hold multiple non-journeyman certifications in either electronics or appliances may also use the same clock hour credits to renew both certifications as long as those clock hours are related to both certifications.

Please note that due to the different renewal periods of some non-journeyman level certifications, the renewals may not coincide so it may be necessary to submit more than one renewal registration form to remain current on all certifications.

See the Technical Continuing Education clock hour section below for all allowable methods and limits in achieving the total clock hours required for recertification.

Journeyman level technical certification renewal and registration process:

All Journeyman level technical certifications issued after 9/1/2013 will be subject to recertification every 2 years or 24 months. There will be a 60 day grace period for renewals. Failure to renew the certification within this time period will require re-testing with NO exceptions.

At that time, any individual that chooses to not renew their certification(s) using the procedures below will be automatically moved to a “Legacy” class of certification.

There will be 4 ways to renew Journeyman level certifications:
